Encaustic Wax Painting with Andreina

Tonight I learned how to make art with encaustic wax paint. Venezuelan artist Andreina invited folks into her house for a gratis session just for the sheer joy of sharing. The paints have to be melted and.mixed in a medium of bees wax and dammar resin. A heater and/or blow.torch is used for working the wax once on the surface being painted, in our case wood. The brushes get clogged and have to be melted. Once layered, the paint can be sculpted. Pretty cool! That's my creation, "ripe and ready".
